Last Thursday marked a heartfelt milestone for Grace Nie, founder of Fracture Club, as she hosted the very first “What’s Up with Grace” event — an intimate evening of reflection, resilience, and purpose.
Just over a month ago, Grace was recovering from an unexpected elbow fracture that left her struggling with simple, everyday tasks — even getting dressed became a challenge. What began as a frustrating recovery period soon sparked an idea: what if adaptive design could help people dress with ease and recover in style? That question became the foundation for Fracture Club, an adaptive apparel brand dedicated to supporting those navigating temporary or long-term mobility limitations.

At the event, held at The Garage at Northwestern University, Grace shared her story with over 20 participants. She spoke candidly about the difficult moments — from hospital gowns and post-surgery recovery to rediscovering confidence — and how those experiences shaped her vision for inclusive, stylish recovery wear.
“Standing in front of my peers to share this journey felt both emotional and empowering,” Grace reflected. “Fracture Club was born out of pain, but it has grown into something full of hope — a reminder that every setback can become a starting point.”

The evening was filled with gratitude and connection. Grace expressed heartfelt thanks to her friends, family, and significant other who stood by her during recovery, and to The Garage at Northwestern, whose support continues to nurture student entrepreneurship and innovation.
As the first “What’s Up with Grace” gathering came to a close, one thing was clear — this was not just a story about recovery, but about turning adversity into impact.
✨ Stay tuned as Fracture Club continues to bring comfort, confidence, and community to people on their road to recovery.
